There is something special about opening your new home to friends and family for the first time. A housewarming is a warm, easygoing, almost spontaneous event, yet it still deserves an invitation that feels thoughtful and put together. A digital invitation does exactly that: it looks lovely, sends in a second over WhatsApp, and keeps every important detail in one place without printing a thing.

Why a digital invitation suits a housewarming

A housewarming is casual by nature, which is precisely why a digital invitation fits it better than an expensive printed card. Instead of running to a print shop for a small living-room gathering, you send a single link and everything lives there.

  • The address connects to a navigation button in Waze or Google Maps, so guests arrive without searching.
  • An add-to-calendar button makes sure nobody forgets.
  • A tidy RSVP helps you know how many chairs and how much food to prepare.

If you are also planning a bigger celebration down the line, the same idea works for weddings, and you can read all about it in our complete guide to digital wedding invitations.

The right tone: warm, homey and light

A housewarming is not a wedding, and the wording should reflect that. Instead of formal, ceremonial language, write the way you actually speak: at eye level, with a smile, in an invitation that reads like a personal note from a friend rather than a production company.

  • Open with a short personal line, for example that you have moved and want to celebrate with the people you love.
  • Keep sentences short, warm and unfussy.
  • Choose a clean design that says home: soft colors, perhaps a little illustration of a door or a plant.

If you want inspiration for the look and feel, we have a collection of invitation design ideas by style that works just as well for home gatherings as it does for weddings.

What you must include

This is the heart of the invitation. The clearer the details, the fewer phone calls you will get on the day itself.

  • Full, exact address: street, number, floor and apartment, plus a building code if there is one.
  • Date and time: Hebrew and Gregorian if you like, and above all a clear start time.
  • Parking and arrival: where guests can park, whether there is a paid lot nearby, and whether public transport is the easier option.
  • What to bring or not to bring: decide here whether it is a potluck where everyone brings something, or whether you are handling it all and prefer no gifts.
  • RSVP: a simple coming or not coming button, perhaps with a field for how many people.

Open house, flexible hours and gifts

Many housewarmings run as an open house, which is an excellent format when you are inviting a lot of people. Instead of everyone arriving at once, you list a window of time and guests drift in and out whenever it suits them.

  • State a clear window, for example between 6:00 and 10:30 in the evening.
  • Explain that people can come whenever is convenient, so nobody feels too early or too late.
  • On the gift question: if you would rather not receive gifts, say so gently. If you do welcome them, you can hint that a contribution through Bit or PayBox is always appreciated, or that a small something for the home would make you happy.

A typical housewarming gift in Israel tends to fall between 100 and 300 shekels, and there is no need to mention a number. It is nicer to leave it open and relaxed.

Example wording to send on WhatsApp

Here is an example you can copy, tweak and send as is. Notice how personal and warm it sounds:

Noam and Shira have moved, and we are so excited to host you in our new home for the very first time. You are invited to our housewarming on Friday, April 24th, between 6:00 and 10:30 in the evening. The address: 14 Hazait Street, apartment 7, Ramat Gan. There is free parking on the surrounding streets. It is an open house, so come whenever suits you. We are taking care of the food and drinks, and please, no gifts, your company is the gift. We would love an RSVP through the link so we know how many we are.

Notice that the wording covers every detail yet stays light. In the digital invitation itself the address becomes a navigation button and the RSVP becomes a tappable button, so the guest simply taps and never has to copy anything.

How to send and track RSVPs

Once the invitation is ready, sending it is the easy part. You share the link in a WhatsApp group or in personal messages and collect the replies without any spreadsheets.

  • Send the invitation a week to ten days ahead.
  • The day before, you can send a short, warm reminder.
  • Track the replies so you can adjust food quantities and seating.

We have a separate guide on sending invitations over WhatsApp with tips that fit a home gathering just as well.
